ELISA kit «ROSSAmed HIV 1/2 Ab»

Reagent Description

HIV infection is a slowly progressive infectious disease resulting from infection with the human immunodeficiency virus. The human immunodeficiency virus belongs to the family of RNA-containing retroviruses. Two types of the virus have been described, HIV-1 and HIV-2. The source of infection are infected people - AIDS patients and "virus carriers". The virus is transmitted through sexual contact, transfusion of infected blood and its preparations, reuse of infected medical instruments.A vertical mechanism of transmission of the pathogen (transplacental) is also possible. Antibodies to HIV appear in 90-95% of those infected within 3 months after infection, in 5-9% - after 6 months from the moment of infection and in 0.5 - 1% - at a later date. Sera that test reproducibly positive for HIV 1/2 antibodies should be tested using a confirmatory assay (immune blot) or a group of confirmatory assays, including immune blot.
